If you have not brought your dog or cat to us before, we recommend bringing their medical records if it’s on hand. However, a medical record is not a requirement for us to assist with your pet’s condition.
Whether your pet needs overnight monitoring depends on the severity of their condition. For Sploot patients requiring overnight care, they will be transferred to an emergency hospital.

Pet vomiting or diarrhea can be considered an emergency case if the dog or cat is…
• Vomiting or experiencing diarrhea for more than 12 hours
• Exhibiting other co-occurring sudden symptoms like lethargy, weakness, collapse, and fever
• Suspected to have ingested a toxic food or substance.
The normal body temperature for dogs and cats is between 99.5 and 102.5º F. A temperature above these ranges is considered a fever.
Determining if a fever is a pet emergency depends on its cause — which can be anything from heat exhaustion, a viral pathogen, a bacterial infection, or ingestion of toxic substances.
It’s always best to be cautious; we recommend reaching out to our veterinarians.
If your dog or cat has consumed xylitol (an unsafe artificial sweetener for pets), chocolate, marijuana, antifreeze, rat poison, or other harmful substances, contact the Pet Poison Helpline or ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center right away.
Additionally, if you suspect poisoning in your pet, we advise contacting Sploot for emergency vet care services. Time is critical in poison cases, and inducing vomiting is also time-sensitive.
